Poetry by Sean Morris (Elder)
"A Sinner Drawn To The Cross"
In toils of sin I show my worth,
in my short comings to Him I show my girth.
What weight of glory, praise, or measure
can I reach in His way to gain any treasure.
All my efforts evaporate
though in heart I stress to exasperate.
Speechless and face down, unable to rise, this my terrible demise?
This my weakness unveiled,
His power now to rise as faith entailed.
O what a boast, infirmity abound,
let me fall headlong to ever be found.
O my boast, my heart astound,
nothing but the cross His Spirit expounds!

"No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the Last Day" (John 6:44).
"Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lost his life for My sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it" (Mark. 8:34-35).
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life that I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me" (Gal. 2:20).
"And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder" (Matt. 21:44).
In toils of sin I show my worth,
in my short comings to Him I show my girth.
What weight of glory, praise, or measure
can I reach in His way to gain any treasure.
