Poetry by Jake Gardner (Elder)
"Judgment Morning"
Jehovah, hath spoken! What fear and what dread!
He calleth before him the quick and the dead.
From His holy hill, Mount Zion, now shines,
Perfection of beauty long hid from man’s eye.
Atheists, reprobates, scoffers and mockers,
All gathered together to meet with their Maker.
The silence He kept, for time to repent,
Shall be broken at once when the judgment is sent,
The fires will burn, the tempest shall rage,
When the works are called out, yea, page after page.
He will call on his angels to gather us all,
Lo, into His presence: that great judgment hall.
What will you say then, who trampled His blood,
Under your feet and into the mud?
Of you will He say, “Bind hand and bind foot;
Cast them away to choke on the soot!”
In the fires you’ll burn, yet be not consumed!
O! hear me today for this is your doom!
Why will you perish? and will not repent?
The Morning is coming the night is far spent.
The Morning of Judgment will be bitter for some,
But others have longed for this hour to come.
Crowns will be laid on those glorified heads,
As the saints of the ages are raised from the dead.
A seperate book for them has been writ,
“The Lamb’s Book of Life,” is the title of it.
And all that are found on the pages inside,
Will see, to them, life’s gates open wide.
O! Christ Jesus will then receive all the praise,
When “Alleluias” are shouted from age unto age!
Where will you be found on that terrible day?
Will your sin debt cry, “Wanting!” or will it say, “Paid”?
God’s own Son, The Ancient of Days,
Hath poured forth His life-blood, and the sin debt it pays.
Has His blood washed through you? and given you life?
Or are you a bondman to sin and to vice?
Have you been cleansed by His wonderful blood?
Plunged to the depths of this pure, crimson flood?
For this is the way God ordained us to live,
Forever, and ever, and ever, Amen.
