"Made New"
The break of a new day
By and by I watch the world decay-
As the Lord paints this chemical sky
Hues of pink, yellow, orange, and purple grey-
The sun rises upon this comforting plateau
Of suburban homes, apartments and condos-
Asleep still the orphans and widows lie
Destitute by their lack of knowing why-
Christ shines in through their windows
In the morning His glory rises
By dusk His handiwork fermented-
Without excuse they lie awake
Plagued by some unknown headache-
Because of all their labour
They travail and miss the glory He’s unveiled-
Christ His Son
His only One-
Came to die to save you an untimely wake
Let not you be blinded by the dawning light-
But “Arise, shine; for thy light is come,
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.”-
Put your trust in the risen One
Let Him free you from your cage-
Your good job will not save you
But only kindle your rage-
This is no stage upon which you act
It is a harvesting field for the Lord to yield-
Yet there are tares among the wheat
That will be consumed by His fire
And swept under His feet-
For there is a saying
You reap what you sow
If of this you do not know-
I implore you question
As you dream upon some permeable shore-
Perhaps the Lord will tell you
If only you would ask-
He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
Through Him all things shall come to pass-
But this you do not care to know
You’re still bent on material wealth-
Thus the flames of Hell
Will soon be unveiled-
He showed you His glory
The story of the Lamb and the Lion
The Great King whose blood made clean
And led us to the great city of Zion-
He offers life to all who believe
So turn from your wicked ways O, man-
Unless torment and torture
And eternal fire is that which you’re beset
For the future of which you aspire-
Let go of the life you cannot keep
From corruption of this you’ll reap
If only to the flesh you would make amends
Of the Spirit putting to death your sins-
Look! At the sun rising
The morning has come
Your time is now
A new day-
Give your life for lost
For we are but jars of clay
A new man you’ll become
For the love of the Son-
His redemption has been given
Under His wings, refuge
And He shall cover you with His pinions
And He will call you His son-
Adopted by the blood
A death on a cross
A resurrection to clear the dross
Your sins now paid in full-
Now to your knees
And pray as you begin again
New… on this glorious day.
