Last Days Poetry
The Holy Heart
by Anne Barbour and Marsha Skidmore; additional modifications and verses by Kaylen de Rouville
The holy heart was broken
Sent from the Father's side
The Son of God forsaken
The holy sacrifice
For me he was forsaken
For me he died alone
My sin forever taken
That I might be His own
The holy Lamb was stricken
Abandoned and alone
He bore the world's affliction
He bore it as His own
There all men did forsake him
They slew their humble King
He did come meek and lowly
And mercy offering
And when my heart is broken
Torn by my sin and pride
The Son of God now risen
Will draw me to His side
Yea risen and ascended,
No more a lowly man
The Alpha and Omega
The Lion and the Lamb
The Son of God, rejected
By those who were his own
Shall come in flames and terror
To reign victorious
Though Babylon now rages
Boasts from their mighty thrones
We see afar, his triumph
And all their thrones cast down
The Lamb in all his glory
Through breaking sky appears
The day we've long awaited
Through endless fires and tears
The Lamb who was forsaken
Now sits upon his throne
His kingdom can't be shaken
He comes to save his own
Our hearts trust not in princes
Nor wonder at the beast
We're raptured by the vision
Of a more fearful KING
He'll come with garments blood stained
Melt mountains with his shout
Treading his dreadful wine press
From Bozrah to the mount
The years of tribulation
Have but a vapor been
The cross we held so dearly,
Now fades to memory
Our sins he purged forever
Through fiery trial we came
The suff'ring, our salvation
The loss of all our gain
So though all hell is raging
And many virgins sleep
Through faith I yield to chastening,
And overcome the beast
With shouts of praise uplifted
We'll hail his sovereign grace
For now we strive and labour
In patience run the race
Wholehearted we're resisting
Though not yet unto blood
One day we'll rise to meet him
A worthy bride for God.
Seeing afar, we triumph
the grave, our victory
With joy we set our faces
To go to Calvary
